The staff of
Interfaith Housing provides homeownership counseling which includes
credit counseling, budgeting, and all aspects of the home buying
process, from applying for mortgages to closing. To ensure success, and
prevent the possibility of foreclosure or delinquency, staff will
provide post-construction assistance to reinforce the rights and
responsibilities of homeownership, including home repair and
maintenance, insurance, security and budgeting.
Professional
construction staff provides classroom and on-site construction and
safety training to all participants. During the construction process,
participants work in groups of five (5) households. Construction
Supervisors assist participants in the building of their homes. All
participants are required to contribute 30 hours per week toward the
building of the homes until all home in the group are complete.
Participants contribute 65% of the construction labor. Licensed
sub-contractors are hired to perform the work for major systems (i.e.
electrical, plumbing, etc.). All families move into their homes when all
of the homes in the group are complete.
